So what are the differences? Laser printers, there are mono and colour. Mono are dropping fast in price to compare with deskjets. Colour lasers are too. Deskjets or inkjets use ink catridges which run out quickly for high use of colour. They also tend to be slower in printing. Laserjets are faster however the toner cartridges are more expensive than inkjet ones, especially for colour laser.

There are multifunction systems which incorporate, scanning and printing. The copying function is essentially the well known scanning function directly feeding to the printer. This should not be mistaken for a photocopier, however in many circumstances it will do the job at a fraction of the price.
